We cannot say enough good things about Spice of Life. Jessica was AMAZING. She was so friendly and professional. On our big day, we had to make some last minute changes. She was more than flexible and made sure that every single person had a wonderful meal and every child had a yummy kids meal. The service was amazing. We had a large wedding. There was a huge staff that constantly was checking on my husband and I. They even made sure that my husband got his favorite appetizer selection to snack on while we were doing photos! I have had the pleasure of working with Spice of Life many times for events including mutual clients, friends’ weddings, and most recently, a holiday party. First of all, I’ve never had the same food item twice from Spice (see what I did there?). There are caterers at parties where you know exactly what you’ll be eating, but I prefer to give Spice an idea of what we’d like, then let them get creative for the ultimate culinary surprise. Chef Mike, who I’m almost 99% sure is classically trained, always comes up with something innovative and delicious. Korean fusion lettuce wraps in mini take-out boxes? Limoncello Dreamsicle shots? A trio of grilled cheeses? These are not things that you will find at your every day catered cocktail party. In addition, all are displayed beautifully and served to you with a smile from someone clean cut and professional. Jessica and staff are a breeze to work with. They take all of the typical party planning woes and handle them with efficiency and expertise. You will be in good hands, and your guests in good spirits, if you work with this team for your next event! What a beautiful platter of Turkish fare!

I have had pleasure in working with Chef Mike Bomberg for the last 12 years here in San Antonio, Texas. When I first met Chef Mike it was at the Dominion country Club where he was the head chef in charge of all food operations for the club. Back in those days, the Club was the place to eat and greet as Chef Mike always delivered great cuisine with a congenial and a warm personality to the members. Unfortunately, it has never been the same after he left the Club to start his own catering business called Spice of Life. Now, I regularly use Spice of Life for all of my catering needs at my home. It is always so easy to work with Chef Mike and his staff on the many different events that I host in my home from Christmas parties, to Fiesta parties, Family Reunions, Charitable fund raising for the San Antonio Symphony and American Red Cross, and just fun dining or heavy hors d’oeuvre gatherings. I am so comfortable in turning over an event to Mike and Jessica of his staff. They always come up with an exciting menu tailored to the event, and of course, everyone always raves about the food quality and flavor. Very important to me is that I can turn over the logistics of the event to Spice of Life. After we discuss the plan, all of the logistics of tables, settings, drinks, bar set-up, and the staging of the event takes place with total confidence that everything will be perfect. This is a big plus for me not to worry about all of these details and for the past 12 years they have always been perfect. Another important item is that my kitchen is always as clean if not cleaner after they are finished as when they started. They are very detailed in pleasing their customer in every way. When I am always asked, What is the name of your caterer, I always am proud to give them Mike’s card. To those who are considering Spice of Life as a catering vendor, I would highly endorse Spice of Life and Chef Mike.

I have had the pleasure of working with Spice of Life Catering for several years, and I highly recommend their services. Chef Bomberg has always created the perfect menu for our event, and the staff is always pleasant and easy to work with. Spice Of Life now manages The Veranda, San Antonio’s newest special event venue.

The Veranda is a restored 3-acre estate, originally built in the 1920’s by a founding family of Castle Hills. In fact, Castle Hills was named for this mansion perched on a hilltop near Olmos Creek. Recently restored, this unique venue offers a view into a bygone era, yet has every modern amenity. Visitors delight in the estate’s natural light and the openness of this restored historic mansion. The Veranda’s distinctive spaces accommodate any event, from small intimate social gatherings to formal business meetings and wedding receptions. The Veranda welcomes groups from 25 to 1,000 guests.
